Well, here's a face that we had grown tired of anticipating! Hollow Knight: Silksong made a cameo in today's Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation — yes, an actual, real cameo — and it was accompanied by a 2025 release window.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Direct mentioned Hollow Knight: Silksong, reiterating that the game very much exists. But that's about it, as there's still no exact release date. We do, however, have confirmation that Silksong will launch in 2025, putting 2026 worries to rest.
During this afternoon's Nintendo Direct dedicated to Switch 2, we got the briefest of looks at Silksong. Yes, guys, it finally happened.
" Hollow Knight: Silksong, 2025", read the caption. Hornet jumped around a bit, and ran in the usual platforming way. The stream's chat went absolutely nuts with SKONGs. It was beautiful, if very brief.

Silksong' will be released on Switch 2 in 2025. The game was revealed at the Nintendo Direct event. The sequel was first announced in 2019. Team Cherry originally planned it as downloadable content but expanded it into a full-scale game.
It’s a brilliant, clever addition. Metroid is one demo, but Nintendo has other implementations, and so do third parties - including full-on mouse pointer implementation in the Switch 2 version of Civilization 7. That makes that instantly the best console version of that game, by the way - chalk up a win there.
