Tour de France will start in Edinburgh with the first three stages taking place in Scotland, England and Wales, the organisers ASO announced at a ceremony in the Scottish capital on Wednesday. This will be the third men's start from the United Kingdom but the two previous Grand Departs both took place in England,

The Scottish city of Edinburgh will host the Tour de France Grand Depart in 2027 as the world's most famous cycling race returns to Britain for the fifth time.

Edinburgh has been chosen to provide a ‘magnificent backdrop’ to the start of the 2027 Tour de France. Scotland, England and Wales will share six stages of the world’s biggest cycling event – three for both the men’s and women’s races, which will both kick off in the same country, the United Kingdom, for the first time.
