The first Trump administration set a goal to end the HIV epidemic by 2030. The second Trump administration wants to burn it all down.

Carl Schmid, the executive director of the HIV+Hepatitis Policy Institute in Washington, told Reuters he had been told by a government agency source that the division might be shut down and that a decision would be made this week on the funding of HIV prevention at the CDC.

The US Department of Health and Human Services has removed the 2024 surgeon general’s advisory on gun violence from its website. A link to the Office of the Surgeon General’s publications on firearm violence displays a “Page Not Found” message.
