Secretary of State Marco Rubio said U.S. airstrikes on the Iran-backed Houthi rebels are targeting the group's ability to strike global shipping and attack the U.S. military.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio argued that the U.S. was "doing the world a favor" with airstrikes against Houthi rebels in Yemen, who have disrupted global shipping.

Rubio pointed to the success of the airstrikes launched on Sanaa over the weekend, saying that “key people” of the Houthis involved in attacks on commercial shipping and the U.S. Navy over the last year and a half are now dead, along with the group’s “facilities” being destroyed.
