Protesters in Israel on Tuesday torched tires, blocked highways and clamored for a ceasefire that would free hostages still in Gaza, as Israeli leaders pressed ahead with plans for an offensive which they argue is needed to crush Hamas.

The strike was among the deadliest of several Israeli strikes that have hit both hospitals and journalists over the course of the 22-month war.

At least 20 people were killed by an Israeli strike on a hospital in Khan Younis on Monday, according to reports from the scene, including journalists and camera operators working for Associated Press,
