U.S. Special Envoy Thomas Barrack said Tuesday that Israel will respond "step-by-step" to Lebanon's anticipated disarmament plan to be presented to Hezbollah.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he welcomed the Lebanese cabinet’s “momentous decision” earlier this month to work towards the disarmament of Hezbollah by the end of 2025 and it could lead to Israel's troops withdrawing from the country.

Israel said it’s willing to start withdrawing its troops from Lebanon if the government there follows through with a plan to disarm Iran-backed Hezbollah by year’s end.
