Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, Gonzaga, San Diego State and Utah State are joining forces with Oregon State and Washington State to create a new Pac-12 conference that will begin competition in 2026-27.

Since last fall, when the Pac-12 secured the additions of Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, San Diego State and Utah State from the Mountain West, plus Gonzaga from the West Coast Conference, the Pac-12 has adopted a blank-slate view of all major decisions.

With the departures of the Universities of Washington and Oregon back in 2023, the PAC-12 was essentially gutted. Washington State and Oregon State University served as its sole surviving members, making up the aptly nicknamed “PAC-2”.
