The Israeli army has intercepted another missile fired at the country from Yemen, the military said early Sunday. The launch triggered air raid sirens in several parts of the country, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said.

But it came 10 days after Israel disabled Yemen’s only functioning airport in similar strikes. It was the first time Israel said it had struck the Houthis since US President Donald Trump announced on May 6 that the US would stop its bombing campaign in Yemen in response to assurances that the Iranian-backed group would halt its attacks on ships.

According to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), the ports were being used to transfer weapons, and the strikes were intended to "deepen the damage to the Houthis' terror capabilities" and "neutralise" the ports.
