Trey Hendrickson is firmly back in the news this week, prompting CBS Sports writer Cody Benjamin to drop the top-five trade fits for the star Bengals pass rusher. Unless there is an equally good player coming back in return (don't count on it) then Cincinnati would be getting worse this coming season with any Hendrickson trade.
Bengals defensive end Trey Hendrickson said some things on Tuesday. Things a player rarely ever says publicly. One comment stands out among the rest. He claims that coach Zac Taylor sent a text explaining that,
Hendrickson remains adamant that he doesn't want a short-term deal and feels he was promised an extension if he played well before leading the NFL in sacks last season. Earlier this offseason, the team granted him permission to seek a trade that never materialized.
The Lions are viewed as a team that has a need at the defensive end position, and Hendrickson was a First Team All-Pro last year after recording 17.5 sacks. Detroit already has one of the game's best young players at the position in Aidan Hutchinson, and the proposition of adding another would give them one of the league's best pass-rush duos.
