The San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners announced Friday they've officially dubbed their six-game series each season the Vedder Cup, complete with a trophy to determine which city can claim credit for Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.

Eddie Vedder is bringing his love for Seattle and San Diego to Major League Baseball! On Friday, MLB announced that the Mariners and Padres will compete for the Vedder Cup every year, and will partner with the rockstar’s charity to support Epidermolysis Bullosa research.

Wait. The Padres and Mariners are making the “Vedder Cup” official? Talk about a grass-roots “campaign” sprouting out of press box shenanigans in Peoria, Ariz., and climbing all the way up the corporate ladder.
