The Villanova Wildcats are ready to move on with former Maryland Terrapins head coach Kevin Willard as their new coach.

New Villanova basketball coach Kevin Willard had a rough exit from Maryland, as it became apparent to many before the Terrapins were eliminated in the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament that he would be leaving the program.

Whatever misgivings Kevin Willard may have had about coaching basketball at Maryland, Buzz Williams’ arrival shows the job is still pretty enticing.

The Terps don’t have much of a roster, but University of Maryland president Darryll Pines and interim athletic director Colleen Sorem believe Williams can rebuild it quickly.

Buzz Williams’ history of staying no more than six seasons at any of his previous jobs was not considered during Maryland’s search, president Darryll J. Pines said.
