Beijing: Xiaomi will start selling its YU7 electric vehicle, in July, founder and CEO Lei Jun said on Thursday, disclosing the launch date of an SUV analysts say will be the strongest rival in China to Tesla's best-selling Model Y.

In addition, the entire Xiaomi YU7 series is equipped with an 800V silicon carbide high-voltage platform with a peak voltage of 897V. The maximum charging rate reaches 5.2C, achieving a 10 per cent to 80 per cent charge in 12 minutes and a 620 km charge in 15 minutes, the fastest charging time.

The Xiaomi YU7 SUV, as per CLTC, boasts an 835 km range, surpassing the Tesla Model Y. It is offered in three variants, Standard, Pro, and Max including four-wheel-drive.
